MEMBERSHIP REPORTIn any active organization, membership recruitment is an ongoing process. Any group that hopes to be vital and alive must rely on the acquisition, retention, and involvement of new members. This is certainly true of the Western Zone of NYSRTA.Western Zone is the largest zone in the state, and has a membership of over 5000. Annual dues are $27 and lifetime dues are $378. An application may be downloaded at www.nysrta.org. The benefits that are offered to members continue to increase. Western Zone offers a health insurance plan with very competitive premiums and plans available to both the educator and his/her spouse. Additional information may be obtained from the administrators of this program, Dental Pay Direct at 1-888-683-3682 Ext. 228 or 716-836-7013 Ext. 228. We also offer a dental program, which includes coverage in New York State and many other states. Information may be obtained by calling 1-888-683-3682 or 716-836-7013, at Ext. 277. NYSRTA members are eligible for a hearing and vision plan, long term care and home health care insurance, life insurance, medi-gap plans, grandparent/grandchild plans, a help care network, and a prescription saving card. Questions may be referred to 1-888-376-6020. Membership recruitment is an association-wide endeavor. We seek the continued support of all of our members in this project. Our current president, Anne Flansburg, and State membership chair, Charles Peszynski, have been very supportive in our membership drive. A special thanks to our unit presidents and unit membership chairs for their invaluable assistance. We appreciate all the help and encouragement given to us by the entire membership, and thank you for this.
